Rafiki Bridge Celebrates Women’s International Day of Action for Peace and Disarmament.

This month, Rafiki Bridge proudly joins hands with organizations across Canada in commemorating Women’s International Day of Action for Peace and Disarmament. While the global date for this day falls on May 24th, in Canada, many recognize it in November—a time that also honors Remembrance Day and emphasizes peace-building efforts. This observance spotlights the critical roles that women play in advocating for peace, supporting global disarmament, and ending violence.

The Role of Women in Peace-building

Women have long been at the forefront of peace movements, advocating for disarmament, non-violence, and equality. At Rafiki Bridge, we stand with these women by creating a future where safety, empowerment, and opportunities for women and girls are accessible to all. Our work aligns with the core values of Women’s International Day of Action for Peace and Disarmament as we continue to build a world where violence, inequality, and fear are replaced with understanding, solidarity, and resilience.

Rafiki Bridge’s Commitment to Empowerment and Resilience

Through initiatives like the Adolescent Girls Mentorship Program, Bridging Circles, and Rebirth of a Queen, Rafiki Bridge empowers women and girls in marginalized communities by providing mentorship, resources, and educational opportunities. Our efforts focus on addressing gender inequality and breaking the cycle of violence by offering a pathway toward lasting change. In alignment with this observance, we strive to create environments where women can thrive—safe from violence and able to contribute to peaceful communities

How Canadians Can Support Women’s Day of Action for Peace

As we reflect on this important day, we invite Canadians to join us in the fight for a world where women and girls are empowered to become leaders of peace. Through collaborative action, we can cultivate safe spaces and supportive environments for all women, ensuring that their voices are heard in peace-building efforts, from local communities to global platforms.
